As we continue to highlight members of the Heart & Hand community, we are pleased to introduce board member Isiah Salazar.
How do you connect to Heart & Hand's mission?
Being a Denver native and growing up on the North side of Denver, it was important to me to spend more time on the East side and learn about its residents and students. Over the years my family has worked hard to help students achieve various educational goals. Helping students in East Denver in the after school and summer programs became an obvious way to make an immediate impact.
Why is board service important to you?
I find it is important to come up with new and creative ideas to help support our students. It is always challenging to come up with new ways to raise funds or how to improve programming but being at a table with other successful like minded individuals that all have the same goal in mind makes me excited.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I am chasing my two young daughters around our house or outside while continuing my knowledge on Disney princesses. As a family we love to go out to eat and travel… usually to Disney Land…ha. I am also an avid golfer and love date nights with my wife.
This post is part of a new Our Community series that celebrates the individuals whose work empowers Heart & Hand students each day.
