November 2017 Newsletter
"Children are the world's most valuable resource and its best hope for the future." — John F. Kennedy This month the Heart & Hand Center has been reflecting on how lucky we are to get to work with such a wonderful group of youth. We are proud to have the opportunity to help guide these students as they discover the bright futures in store for them. November has been another wonderful month here at Heart & Hand. Our annual Night in Lights gala was a huge success. We would like to thank all of our sponsors and attendees for making this a record breaking year for us!
We would also like to thank MAX Women's Clothing for hosting an amazing Nili Lotan collection preview that benefited the Heart & Hand Center. Nili's presentation was approachable and engaging and thanks to Max's hard work, this event exceeded our fundraising expectations. We are grateful for all of the support MAX Women's Clothing has given us over the years. Please take a moment to check out our latest program updates, as well as information on fun upcoming events and other opportunities to get involved.

Resume Writing Workshop This month Heart & Hand Center's College and Career Readiness program teamed up with Impact Denver to provide a Resume Writing Workshop to our high school students. The youth were excited to learn how to write and design their resumes and are eager to begin testing their final products out in the job market.
Thanksgiving Though the Heart & Hand Center was closed for the week of Thanksgiving, our middle and high school students wanted to make sure to celebrate the holiday together. They cooked a Thanksgiving meal complete with: chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni, corn, and stuffing. We are all thankful to get to witness the strong bond that has been created among these students, coming from an array of different schools.
Sydney is a sophomore at Denver Montessori Junior/Senior High School where her favorite class is Chemistry. She enjoys learning new things about science and elements, and getting to participate in hands on experiments, which she says help her learn best. In the fall, Sydney played on the volleyball team and has plans to play volleyball in college. This is Sydney's fifth year with Heart & Hand and she continues to grow as a student, leader, and young woman everyday. During the month of November, Sydney helped lead a Zumba Class for our Columbine Students with a couple of her friends. From lesson planning, to creating a routine, to going and teaching it to the students, Sydney's maturity, responsibility, and Zumba skills shined. Sydney's favorite thing about Heart & Hand is that she can come and get help on her academics, while also being able to participate in other activities, such as cooking, art, Zumba, and working out at the Glenarm. While those activities may just seem like fun, Sydney says that they also benefit her in an academic and personal way. Sydney's future goals include becoming a veterinarian or working towards her cosmetology license. We are so grateful to get to work with such an amazing young lady.
Thanks for Your Support
