Meet Diante Peterson
Heart & Hand Program Leader, Columbine Elementary

Where are you from?
I’m from Hopewell Virginia. A small Town REALLY close to Richmond. Grew up around so many trees, but I’ll say I’m from Denver as well because it’s home to me.

What is interesting or unique about your family?
The loving nature of all us. We really want to help and care for everyone.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love watching ANIME - that’s probably the more interesting thing about my family now that I think about it. We all watch it together every other day. I also LOVE BASKETBALL. I fell in love with it at 7 years old, but I love the weird quirky things like trivia. The last thing I love to do is PLAY VIDEO GAMES. It’s why I wanted to be a graphic designer for about 3 years.

What do you like about working at Heart & Hand?
I like getting to learn and grow with the staff. Every Friday during professional development I learn something new about myself and my professional journey. That is only possible because of the everyone in the organization. I’m grateful I have all you as a support system.

What advice do you have for Heart & Hand students?
Never stop dreaming, never stop asking questions, Never let anyone put you in a box. Never Give Up. Dark times or rough times are going to be ahead but as long as you believe in yourself you can make it through anything and if you have people who believe in you and care about you ALL OF YOU CAN MAKE IT THROUGH ANYTHING.

What is your favorite quote?
The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they can be great in whatever they want to do. -Kobe Bryant
