A Message from Nikki
Heart & Hand Founder and Board Member
Among many things, 2020 represents Heart & Hand's 10th Anniversary. As I reflect on the last decade, I am reminded of the young girl I met at a local homeless shelter who opened my eyes to the opportunity gap that exists in our communities and the work that needed to be done to close those gaps and ensure that youth and families had the support needed to thrive. With my husband, Derek, and our first intern Blaine Heydt by my side the Heart & Hand Center was born.
Today, I continue to serve as a member of the Leadership Team and the Board of Directors. Though much has changed over the years, what has stayed the same is Heart & Hand’s commitment to nurturing relationships and empowering young people. From our early years of serving 25 youth a day, I am proud to say that there are now hundreds of young people in Denver that know Heart & Hand will always be there for them.
Many of you have supported me by investing in this work over the last ten years. While I am disappointed that we were not able to celebrate at our annual Gala this year, I am confident that we can still rally around Denver kids when it matters most. As we embark upon a new decade- already marked with unprecedented challenges - I invite you to reinvest in the bright futures each Heart & Hand child deserves.
